The  1998  production was one of the Playhouse’s biggest hits. When  Purlie Victorious Judson, most recently “Rev. Purlie” comes home to Georgia, he brings a girl– Lutie Mae Jenkins-and a plan to reclaim the family land from Ol’ Cap’n, for Purlie’s new freedom church. What it takes to finally get the freedom bells ringing at big Bethel will leave you breathless from laughing as Davis’s  Sparkling dialogue makes every event uproarious!
